Anchor Fence History

Established in 1891 under the name of Anchor Post Fence Co., Anchor Fence was the first company in the USA to manufacture and install chain link fence fabric using machines imported from Belgium.

The first chain link fence was installed at Crocker Wheeler in New Jersey. This fence, we believe, stands today with the addition of only a few coats of paint to increase its durability.

Anchor Fence also manufactured and installed wrought iron and one of the first installations of this product still stands today at Arlington National Cemetery.

During World War II, Anchor Fence also manufactured rocket launchers and oil-burning equipment which have been discontinued in order to specialize in security and fence products.

Other "First" products include drive anchors, Permafuse fusion bonded fence products, all aluminum white picket, ranch rail and privacy fence and aluminum chain/panel balcony rail. More variations were introduced over time.

At one time Anchor Fence had so many new and original products under development that production was slowed only by limited funds available. So, in 1975 Anchor Fence merged with Sunshine Mining, which provided the necessary resources to develop new products.

Now independently owned, Anchor Fence continues to search for and develop new ideas and products using our own manufacturing facilities and working as distributors for selected promising and proven specialized security products.
